An Inside Look at Todoist's Content Marketing Pipeline

Todoist, creators of the excellent Ambition & Balance blog, make a clear delineation between the content calendar and the content pipeline.

The content calendar is all about planning. The team uses it to plan content 1-2 months in advance, to make sure they have the resources to get the work done and to keep stakeholders in the loop.

The content pipeline is where the work happens. It's the day-to-day workflow where writers, editors and designers collaborate, hand off work, update one another and move projects forward.

I've seen many teams combine the calendar and pipeline into one massive project. While that can work, I really appreciate how thoughtful the Todoist team is about this workflow. They know that a narrow scope makes it easier to focus. By separating out the calendar and pipeline, planning and doing each have a place to call home.
